Social networking

It would be great to interact with clients and
especially the teens who could make suggestions for purchase or feedback on material and services that we already have.We could promote upcoming events and clients could book online. For example National Simultaneous storytime. Parents could also provide feedback on our services.

Now that the course is completed it will be interesting to incorporate some of the many things learned.

Online applications

At present we only have one public computer that is dedicated to word processing and Google Docs would be a great tool to show other customers who are booked on to the other public computers. It was very easy to access and use.

Mashups

This was the most time-consuming exercise of all...so I understand how Goldilocks felt!
We did try and upload photos from our USB but had no success. We then resorted to using Google Images which worked..and we all lived happily ever after.
We have a powerpoint presentation of our children's activities and services running in the library with lots of photos that feature several children. We could use mashups to include more photos and print copies to use on wall displays.

Podcasting

Our library could use podcasting to 'hear' authors talk about their latest books or hear excerpts from new titles.Enjoyed Andy Griffiths interview about his book Bumasaurus on the www.ABC.net.au podcast site. Also found Booktalks Quick and Simple podcasts very informative.

2.0 Course progress

Have just completed Week 8 ofthe course. Am finding some things very useful for children's services. We are now compiling a list of storytime theme books using LibraryThing.Answerboards would be useful for our library service when we have a lot of our kids doing similar project. It is similar to the AskNow service provided by National Library which we participated in for 2 years.
